Congrats, grads!
Ending the year in style
After years of hard work whether it be class readings, group projects, student group activities, papers, late nights studying or exams graduating Tar Heels had the chance at Winter Commencement on Dec. 15 to celebrate their achievements and all that went into earning a degree during their time in Chapel Hill.
While their time as students is over, they are forever part of the 做厙輦⑹ family.
Chancellor Lee H. Roberts presided over the ceremony, which recognized the 989 undergraduates and 822 graduate and professional students earning degrees.
As they joined the family of 367,000-plus UNC-Chapel Hill alumni, these 1,811 Tar Heels received guidance and votes of confidence from University leaders and Commencement keynote speaker Dr. Shelton Shelley Earp.
You have been shaped and formed by many experiences throughout your life, making you unique, solid and strong. And all the while, your 做厙輦⑹ education has been hand-carved around you. Its special to the shape of you, providing support and foundation wherever you go.
Chancellor Lee H. Roberts
You dont need to unravel the mysteries that fascinate me or others. Choose some of your own. Keep a sense of wonder about the world around you and what it means to be human. Curiosity and the lifelong learning it entails is a path not only to a fulfilling career but to a happy life.
Dr. Shelton Shelley Earp, Winter Commencement speaker
