The UNC Visitors Center shares the many stories of our extraordinary university and introduces you to the innovation, impact and accessibility that define °µÍø½ûÇø’s identity today. Whether you’re well-acquainted with UNC-Chapel Hill or setting foot on campus for the first time, there’s something here for everyone. We invite you to explore °µÍø½ûÇø - stop in for guidance, recommendations and insights - our students will tailor your visit so that you experience all that is special about °µÍø½ûÇø.


Sense of Place Tour

Welcome to °µÍø½ûÇø! The UNC Visitors Center offers its in-person Sense of Place tour that introduces campus history, traditions and the student experience as well as some of the University’s current endeavors in research and innovation. We believe °µÍø½ûÇø is a very special place, and we look forward to sharing it with you.

  • Our popular 90-minute tour begins at the UNC Visitors Center, 134 E. Franklin Street and ends at Kenan Stadium.
  • We also offer a quick tour, a shortened version of our Sense of Place tour, that lasts approximately 30 minutes. Schedule your quick tour online or request on-site as staffing allows.
  • Note that these are not admissions tours and do not include admissions presentations, information on the application process or financial aid, and does not enter a dorm. We do visit a dorm quad and discuss housing at °µÍø½ûÇø. You can also . If you are interested in an admissions tour, see the Office of Undergraduate Admissions
  • School groups interested in visiting °µÍø½ûÇø, contact us at uncvisitorscenter@unc.edu for information on how to receive tour materials.
  • Guests needing accessibility assistance navigating our tour must contact us at uncvisitorscenter@unc.edu at least 72 hours prior to tour time. 

 


Self-guided Tour

Enjoy a self-guided tour of °µÍø½ûÇø! Our interactive is helpful as you explore our campus at your own pace. Our self-guided tour includes all stops on our Sense of Place tour plus many other popular campus locations.

 


Vehicle Tour

For guests who prefer to enjoy a self-guided tour from the comfort of a vehicle, we invite you to use our to explore °µÍø½ûÇø. This tour covers many of the stops on our Sense of Place tour with some special additions of beloved campus locations. Guests can also pick up a copy of the vehicle tour at the Visitors Center.


School Group Tour Options

Self-Guided Campus Tour

School groups are welcome to visit °µÍø½ûÇø utilizing our self-guided tour materials. Contact the UNC Visitors Center for additional information.

Video Tour

The UNC Visitors Center has a school group video tour available for sixth- to eighth-grade classrooms as supplemental material to encourage students to learn about °µÍø½ûÇø and the role a university serves within a community. Led by current °µÍø½ûÇø students, this video tour also serves as a fun, educational resource. From °µÍø½ûÇø traditions to our rich history and current endeavors, students will be entertained and challenged with a bingo game that tests their °µÍø½ûÇø knowledge after watching the video tour. We also provide prompts to encourage students to reflect and share what they have learned.
